I’m a part of Flag Star because…
What’s better than being a part of an organization that gives kids the chance to get out and play with other kids in a fun and encouraging environment?!
What’s the most important value to share with/teach the kids:
Approach every situation/ opportunity with a positive attitude. It makes a difference!
Favorite intro/pump-up song:
“Win” - Jay Rock
Favorite Sports Movie:
It’s between Love & Basketball and Coach Carter (can you tell that I was a basketball player?)
Who was your childhood sports hero:
Marissa Coleman, Serena Williams, and Venus Williams
Who was your favorite youth coach and what did he/she teach you:
Coach Rod, he taught me that the last play already happened and that there is nothing that I can do in the future to change it, so don’t waste time thinking about it.
Who’s the best friend you made through sports:
Brittany Bryant, that’s my girl!
What’s your most cringe-worthy sports moment / biggest failure:
During my freshman year of college, my basketball team made it to the conference championship and we were playing against a team that we had already beat twice that season. My team and I went into the game thinking that this was going to be an easy win because, well, we beat them twice before. Y’all, we lost! The lesson that I learned from that situation is that you should give your all in every game that you play.
What are your off-field interests/hobbies:
Science, medicine, scrap booking, painting
What’s your favorite quote:
“I’ve had to learn how to fight all my life - got to learn to keep smiling. If you smile, things will work out.” -Serena Williams
