Greetings!! My name is Coach Sam, and I’m the Director of Flag Star’s Elite program. The Winter Elite season is right around the corner. And as we look ahead towards it, we envision a MASSIVE season on deck.

Elite is “more serious” than our traditional rec. football. We have concentrated practices, intricate schemes and - generally speaking - we ask A LOT more of the kids. “Elite” is a developmental eco-system for football die-hards and kids who dream of playing at the next level. Our dream is to make this the premier Flag Football League for highly-skilled young athletes, and we believe we’re on that path.

The Elite League will primarily have “pro-coached” teams that kids will try out for. These coaches are the most experienced and most knowledgeable we have to offer (most played college football).

We also take on full Parent-Organized teams. Those teams must come with an aura of confidence that they’ll be able to compete at this level. We got some really good teams!!

Flag Star Elite isn’t your grandmother’s flag league. This is a next-level program for next-level players, and the competition is as good as it gets in the DMV area. If you want to be part of the Elite family, we would love to have you, but be ready to commit to your team and to put in the work it takes to be great.

FAQs

My child loves football, but isn’t the best player on his team, is it worth trying out?

Absolutely. When we make the teams, we account for how hard the player will work in practice, how much a team player they’ll be, and how much they really want to be there.

How will the practices be different than our regular flag star team?

The practices will be run more like a “traditional” football practice. Teams will work on individual position work, learning plays, running plays against a “scout team” and of course, conditioning. Games will be played on Saturdays. Even playing time is not guaranteed in games and neither is every player playing their preferred position.

Who are the coaches?

Each team will be assigned one of our best Flag Star coaches. All Elite coaches have serious football resumes and know how to craft an offense and a defense worthy of an Elite program. Practices will be fun, but require hard work and focus.

I have a parent-coached team. Can I play and how will our team be different?

We are accepting a few parent-coached teams for Elite. You will play the same game schedule as the other Elite teams, but practices will be completely up to you. This is a higher level of competition, so we suggest all parent-coached teams practice at least once a week.

My child wants to play with his friends. Can I make sure they are on the same team?

Friend groups are welcome to try out for the same team, and if it is possible to accommodate we will, but there is no guarantee of playing together.

My kid wants to play, but is nervous about not knowing anyone on the team. Will he enjoy it?

Absolutely. Elite brings kids together who all love football and being part of a team. In the Winter, teams bonded quickly and many kids made new friends through the program. If you love football, this is the place for you.
