I’m a part of Flag Star because…
Want to be a part of a growing positive community that teaches kids the importance of teamwork, communication and sportsmanship. Most importantly, I think it helps these kids develop great social skills that they will use outside of football.
What’s the most important value to share with/teach the kids:
Respect. Growing up as a kid, respect for the game, opponents and your teammates was the common theme that was ingrained in me throughout all sports. It carries over outside of sports and is a very important characteristic in everyday life.
Favorite intro/pump-up song:
Antidote by Swedish House Mafia
Favorite Sports Movie:
The Longest Yard
Who was your childhood sports hero:
Chris Paul. The day after his grandfather passed away, he went out and scored 61 points in honor of him (his grandfather was 61). The 61th point was an and one, and he missed the free throw on purpose. He was a couple of points shy of the state record, but instead he took himself out of the game to stay at 61.
Who was your favorite youth coach and what did he/she teach you:
Coach DiMartini - He taught me to respect the game, as well as practice each day as if it was your last.
Who’s the best friend you made through sports:
One of my best friends to this day I grew up playing with throughout middle school and high school
What’s your most cringe-worthy sports moment / biggest failure:
One I can remember off the top of my head, high school basketball. There was a loose ball right at my feet and instead of going for the ball, I put my hands up because I knew I was in foul trouble and didn't want to get called for a foul. Coach took my out and said "Why are you standing there in a ballerina pose??" Regardless of if I got called for a foul there it didn't matter, I didn't play the rest of the game. A lesson I learned off that, is to just always hustle, don't worry about foul trouble or the scoreboard.
What are your off-field interests/hobbies:
Working out, spending time with my wife and our new puppy Woody.
